The Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice has filed a stay of execution at the Supreme Court against the decision of the Court of Appeal in SEDINA TAMAKLOE ATTIONU v. THE REPUBLIC [TLP-CA-2026-38].

The Office through its Principal State Attorney, Hilda W. Craig acting for and on behalf of the Attorney-General filed the motion at the registry of the Supreme Court today, the 11th day of August, 2026. The motion is slated for hearing on the 13th day of October, 2026.

The A-G seeks the Supreme Court to stay the execution of the decision of the Court of Appeal, that is, prevent Mad. Sedina Tamakloe from enjoying her liberty on grounds of an error committed by the Court of Appeal in her acquittal and fears entertained by the State of Mad. Sedina Tamakloe absconding justice yet again while the appeal of the State is being heard.

Per sources of The Law Platform, the A-G has filed a motion to withdraw their motion for stay of execution filed in the registry of the Court of Appeal on the 30th day of July, 2026 which was heard on the 31st day of July, 2026.

The A-G, per our sources, shall withdraw their motion for stay filed at the Court of Appeal tomorrow when the Court sits to deliver its ruling on the same motion for stay against the execution of the decision of the selfsame Court acquitting Mad. Sedina Tamakloe.

The Court of Appeal which shall sit tomorrow is constituted by Sophia Rosetta Bernasko-Essah(Presiding), Dr. Ernest Owusu-Dapaa and Ayitey Armah-Tetteh, JJA.
