The High Court, Commercial Division 5 Presided by Justice Samuel Djanie Kotey has dismissed an Application filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) under section 39 of the Office of the Special Proseutor Act 2017 (Act 959 ) seeking orders of confirmation of the freeze of the properties of Mr. Nana Yaw Duodu, popularly called Dr. Sledge and other persons related to Dr. Sledge.
The High Court Judge thus upheld the arguments and the affidavit in opposition to the application for the confirmation of the freeze of the properties of Dr. Sledge filed by Cardinal Law Group, lawyers for Dr. Sledge led by the respected Alex Kofi Osei-Owusu.
Properties in question
In the motion of the OSP seeking the blessings of the Court to keep properties of Dr. Sledge and some of his family members frozen, vehicles including, an unregistered rolls-royce masonry phantom S/C, 2 mercedes benz vehicles, two bullion vans, a lexus SUV, and two land cruisers were listed as items whose freeze by the OSP was to be confirmed by the Court.
Ornaments, jewellry and personal effect of the 1st Respondent, Dr. Slegde were also itemized for a confirmation of their freeze.
OSP prays for written submissions
The Office of the Special Prosecutor during the hearing of their motion which was slated per their motion paper for the 3rd day of Decemer, 2025 prayed the High Court for written submissions to be filed and same relied on by the Court for the consideration of their motion.
His Lordship Kotey ordered the filing and the service of submissions on parties with the 23rd day of January for ruling. On the said date, the Court adjourned to today, the 29th day of January, 2026 for the respondents, Dr. Sledge, Goldridge Refinery Ltd., Evelyn Duodo and Ama Duodo to serve the OSP with their submissions. The Court also ordered the OSP to file supplementary written submissions if it wished to respond to the legal arguments of lawyers for the Respondents who were Mr. Alex Kofi Osei-Owusu for the 1st and 2nd Resondents, Mr. JB Dankwah for the 3rd Respondent and the learned Eddie McCarthy for the fourth Respondent.
The Court, now fortified with the application of the OSP, the opposition filed against the application to confirm the freeze of properties and the written addresses filed in support or against the motion dismissed the application of the OSP as moved by the learned Amos Tetteh Narh, Prosecutor the Applicant-anti-corruption body.
