Nana Yaa Ampem Darkowah Otchere has caused her lawyers, Safo Katanka @ Law to issue and file a writ against the Bank Hospital located at Cantoments in Accra for negligence in surgical procedures to correct medically diagnosed ailments at her chest region.

In her writ filed on the 26th day of February, 2026, the Plaintiff- Social Worker claims she was referred to the Defendant hospital from Ridge Hospital, was admitted and upon examinations, was diagnosed with Right Catomenial Pneumothorax among others.

In her 29-paragraphed Writ of Summons, she claims that officers of the Defendant hospital informed her of a success of the procedure only to be operated on again for the same condition.

The Plaintiff claims she requested a transfer to the Cardiothoracic Centre at Korle Bu upon an examination of her x-rays post the surgery whereupon she obtained knowlegde that the procedures done to correct her condition had failed contary to the representation by medical officers of the Defendant-Hospital.

The Plaintiff informs the court through her writ that the Defendant-Hospital had failed to transfer her to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital despite the receipt of such recommendation by a Senior Cardiothoracic Surgeon with Korle Bu's Cardiothoracic centre.

Per the Plaintiff's case as filed and a copy of the writ below, the Plaintiff informs the Court that the Bank Hospital failed to grant her request for transfer to Korle Bu despite the said transfer recommended by a specialist and herself.

On the negligently conducted procedure, the Plaintiff avers that the hospital performed her procedure twice, all at wrong locations as the surgery ought to have been done inches below her breast and not an inch from her armpit.

4 million cedis in damages

The Plaintiff thus prays for declarative reliefs of negligence by the Defendant, breaches to the National Health Policy (revised in 2020) and orders in favour of the Plaintiff for the payment of damages to the tune of GH¢4,000,000.

The Defendant Hopital on the 24th day of March, 2026 has caused its lawyers, Lithur Brew & Company led by the learned Tony Lithur to enter appearnce to contest the claims of the Plaintiff.
