Mr. Andy kwame Appiah-Kubi has formally withdrawn from the case of Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako & 2 Ors. Case No. CR/0004/2026 by the formal filing of a notice of withdrawal of representation.
On the 9th day of June, 2026, Lawyer for Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly called Chairman Wontumi filed a motion for leave to withdraw as Counsel for the 1st accused, Chairman Wontumi in the famous ongoing criminal case of Republic v Bernard Antwi Boasiako & 2 Ors. Case No. CR/0004/2026.
Today, Monday, 15th day of June, 2026, the Court Presided by Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay heard the motion and upheld an objection raised on jurisdictional grounds raised by the learned Deputy Attorney-General, Dr. Justice Srem Sai.
The Court held the view that the process for withdrawal as Counsel in a criminal matter did not require an application for leave from Court. Rather, the procedure required just a notice to be filed informing the Court of the withdrawal of legal services for an accused person.
