The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has called the bluff of the Presidency and has signalled the firm mind of the house not to desist and cease the transmission of the Anti-LGBTQ bill to the President for his assent.

In a Statement addressed to the House in reaction to a letter dated 18th of March, 2024 signed by the Secretary to the President, the learned Speaker of the house undertook a constitutional argument suggesting that the work of Parliament cannot suffer injunctive processes.

The Speaker in clear terms sought to stamp the authority of Parliament while at the same time sought to expose the legal weakness of the view of the President on the effect of injunction applications on the law making process of Parliament.
