Samuel Bryan Buabeng, a former Presidential Staffer has filed his defence to the GH¢10 million defamation suit brought against him by the Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL), Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, for statements she deems defamatory contained in a facebook post authored by Mr. Buabeng.

In the defence of Mr. Buabeng filed on the 27th day of October, 2026, Mr. Buabeng relies on truth and honest opinion and fair commentary as his defence against the claims of the General Manager of Ghana's Airports. In the particulars of truth Mr. Buabeng avers, per a copy of the defence sighted by The Law Platform that;

"PARTICULARS OF STATEMENT OF FACTS

Order 57 Rule 3(2)

I. Frank Dankwa is a staff of GACL and the AVSEC Supervisor until recently where he involved himself in narcotic crime as alleged.

II. Frank Dankwa is a supervisee of the Plaintiff who is the Managing Director of GACL and has a healthy working relationship with the Plaintiff.

III. Frank Danquah is alleged to be involved in narcotic related crime

involving Ghana’s Airport.

IV. Frank Danquah is at large.

V. Frank Danquah is wanted by NACOC."

The purported defamatory facebook post of Mr. Buabeng and the suit of Mad. Opare intituled Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare v Samuel Bryan Buabeng (Suit No. GJ/1123/2026), a copy of the writ which may be read/downloaded below, follows a streak of cocaine busts across the world traced to Ghana's ports and airports.

Claims of Mad. Opare

Mad. Opare per her writ filed on the 29th day of August, 2026 through her lawyers led by the learned Cecil Mettle-Nunoo, is seeking declarative reliefs from the Court that the following words of Mr. Buabeng posted on his facebook wall are defamatory:

"Frank Dankwa, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL)’s favourite member of staff and the AVSEC supervisor who aided the drug baron, emptied all of his bank accounts before fleeing; the account with the least amount contained more than GH¢500,000.

The Cocainenomy is on the right footing, with people in high places benefiting immensely."

The Plaintiff, MD of GACL, pleads innuendo and avers per her filed writ that the statement of Mr. Buabeng seeks to associate Frank Dankwa, a staff of GACL and the AVSEC Supervisor with her and thus, cause a low estimation of her in the minds of right thinking members of the public.
