The Vice President of the Ghana Bar Association and Head of the Court monitoring committee of the Ghana Bar Association, the learned and experienced litigation Lawyer, Mrs. Victoria Barth has indicated that the Judicial Service has in the works, an app to inform court users of sittings of Courts in Ghana.
The Vice President of the Bar Association who in private practice heads the respected Sam Okudzeto & Associates law firm disclosed to members of the Bar on the 26th day of April, 2025 at the Association of Lawyers' Mid-Year Conference that the Judicial Service in a bid to forestall inconveniences to Court users when a Court fails to sit seeks to send prompt alerts to Lawyers and Court users upon the completion of the said software specifically built for the purpose.
The news of the software being developed by the Judicial Service came from the learned Vice President of the Ghana Bar Association upon concerns raised by members of unannounced failure of Judges to sit inconveniencing Lawyers and Clients especially where Counsel and parties travel long distances to conduct Court business.
Mrs. Barth took the opportunity to applaud and promote the existing arrangement by some Court Clerks who send news of Cause List and prompt updates of Court schedules via whatsapp groups created for Lawyers who visit their Court.
The Law Platform notes Courts such as the Koforidua High Court, Baatsonaa District Court, Adenta High Court etc. have this arrangement which is very helpful to Lawyers and Clients
Funding Challenge
Mrs. Barth, as part of the news, which lawyers who were gathered at the Conference appeared to have welcomed gladly also disclosed a funding challenge for the full and final completion of the software being developed by the Judicial Service. She mentioned the need for additional funding of some GH600,000 for the full completion of the project which upon completion shall improve service delivery of the Judicial Service which manages Courts in Ghana.
