The Chief Justice of the Republic, Justice Gertrude Torkornoo will appoint a new judge to sit on the Cecilia Dapaah matter as the current judge, Justice Edward Twum of the Financial and Economic Division of the High Court will be proceeding on leave.

Justice Twum in the morning of Wednesday the 8th of November, 2023 disclosed the news of his leave to lawyers and parties on the Cecilia Dapaah matter. He therefore adjourned proceedings to 29th of November 2023.

Justice Twum is expected to resume judicial duties in February of 2024. The leave of Justice Twum has occasioned a further delay to proceedings in the Cecilia Dapaah matter and by that, purchased more time for the Special Prosecutor to conduct investigations if any on the matter.

The news of the leave of Justice Twum and appointment in his replacement comes on the back of a refusal of a petition by the Special Prosecutor to have Justice Edward Twum recused.
