The social media influencer and self-confessed lesbian Elorm Ababio, known widely as Ama Governor will not be called to the bar on the Friday 20th of October, 2023.
On Friday 20th of October, 2023, over 1000 lawyers will be enrolled to the bar. A letter seen by The Law Platform and confirmed by our sources at the General Legal Council indicates that her application for enrollment has been flatly rejected.
Per the letter signed by Justice Pamela Koranteng, Judicial Secretary, the monitoring and observation of the conduct of Ama Governor leading to her re-application for enrolment to the bar showed some "elements in her public conduct" which warranted the rejection of her application.
Ama Governor by the letter has been invited by the Council to apply for enrollment next year same time or similar periods thereafter.
Per the letter which is addressed to Ama Governor with copies to the Chief Justice and members of the General Legal Council, the conduct of Ama Governor will continuously be on the radar of the Council and same will form the basis to accept or reject her application for enrollment to the Ghanaian Bar.
Ama Governor was billed to be called to the bar 11th of November last year but was denied the honouring opportunity after a petition was made against her call. The opportunity to be a lawyer was again out of her reach as she was denied on 5th of May 2023 during the mini call for lawyers.
Contrary to reports and an indication by herself that she will finally be called to the noble profession, the General Legal Council have pulled the brakes on her life long career path by their letter dated 18th October, 2023 a copy of which can be found below.
