Mr. Hanan Abdul-Wahab, former CEO of Buffer Stock Company has filed, on the 13th day of July 2026, his affidavit opposing the motion of the A-G filed at the High Court seeking orders from H/L Justice Francis Achibongo to revoke its own orders granting leave to Mr. Hanan for travel to the UK for a medical appointment.
In his 5-page affidavit in opposition which has attached to it evidence of his air ticket which covered his round journey from Ghana to UK and to Ghana, his hotel booking and a profile of the facility where he was to procure medical care, he informs the court that the motion of the A-G is nothing but a re-argument of the grounds for the Court to deny him leave for travel which the Court had heard and refused.
He narrates his detention ordeal to the Court and suggests through his affidavit that the A-G woefully fails to show any basis for the reasonable suspicion that his travel was to evade his prosecution which is yet to reach the end of its case management phase.
Mr. Hanan refutes the allegations and basis for the motion of the A-G in the following words:
"6. That the applicant has not exhibited anything to show that I intended to avoid standing trial, or indeed any of the serious allegations it makes against me, all of which I vehemently deny.
7. That, on Monday, 29th June 2026, this Honourable Court, after consideration of affidavits filed by both parties and arguments of both my counsel and the Deputy Attorney-General, including the same points made at paragraph 1 of the affidavit of the applicant, concluded that there was no basis to suggest that I wanted to use the intended travel as a means to avoid standing trial and proceeded to grant me leave to seek medical treatment out of the jurisdiction for a distressing eye condition which is severely affecting my daily activities."
My 7000pounds and two phones gone
At paragraphs 28 and 29 of his affidavit opposing the motion of the A-G seeking to revoke the grant of leave for Mr. Hanan to travel, Mr. Hanan deposes to his long detention and unlawful dispossession of his money and mobile devices as follows:
"28. That after my eventual release from the unlawful detention, the Applicant and EOCO unlawfully kept some monies on me including about 7,000 Pounds Sterling (£7,000), which I had borrowed for my travel expenses and medical treatment, and my two mobile phones.

29. That further, the Applicant and EOCO unlawfully accessed the data on my mobile phones without any judicial authorisation. Specifically, the access occurred on 6th July 2026 at 7:39 pm and again on 7th July 2026 at 9:33am, during which time I was in the cells of BNI and EOCO and my phones were in their possession."
Hearing of the motion filed by A-G is set for Thursday, the 16th day of July, 2026.
