The Attorney-General, Hon. Dr. Dominic Akurintinga Ayine and the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has restored the liberty of the former Buffer Stock CEO to him despite the imposition of a GH¢5 million cedi bail condition which Mr. Hanan Abdul-Wahab refused to meet but rather wait till the Court grants him his liberty.
The release of Mr. Hanan Abdul-Wahab follows the press release from his lawyers, Messrs Dame & Partners dated the 8th day of July, 2026 disclosing to the public that despite Mr. Hanan being granted bail by the Accra High Court, EOCO has unlawfully detained him after his arrest by the A-G at the Accra Int. Airport despite leave of the Court for travel for a medical appointment.
The release of Mr. Hanan also follows firm rebuttals by his lawyers in the media against his arrest and detention. Following the re-arrest of Mr. Hanan despite his ongoing trial, the A-G has filed a motion to set aside leave granted by Court to him for medical travel. Following his re-arrest the A-G released a press statement in which he claims the facility to be visited by Mr. Hanan for his optician appointment, Boots, is a beauty products retailer.
This claim of the business of Boots by the A-G turns out to be misleading owing to a google search by The Law Platform. A cursory online search of Boots suggests a well established and broadly operated business in optical care in the UK. Their profile may be read here.
Dame challenges Ayine to produce evidence on fund withdrawal
The former Attorney-General and lead lawyer for Mr. Hanan, Mr. Dame, in his press statement challenged his successor to provide evidence of any attempt by the ex-Buffer Stock CEO, Mr. Hanan, to withdraw funds or empty his bank account as he is accused of by a facebook post by the deputy Attorney-General, Hon. Dr. Justice Srem-Sai on Sunday, the 5th day of July, 2026.

Dr. Srem Sai provided the full basis for the arrest of Mr. Hanan in the post below despite leave of Court for his medical trip.
Mr. Hanan through his lawyer disputes the allegation of bank account withdrawal in the following words, "We repeat that in any event, there is no valid order of any court of competent jurisdiction freezing our client’s accounts since the earlier freezing orders made in respect of his earlier prosecution had lapsed."
I wont satisfy bail condition; my fate is with Court
"8. EOCO has, as a further ploy to keep our client in its custody, purported to impose conditions of bail in the sum of 5 Million Ghana Cedis with two sureties to be justified, even though he is already on a court granted bail and is reporting fortnightly to EOCO. Our client deems these conditions outrageous, unreasonable and a ploy to further curtail his liberties since he is not in the position to meet them.
9. If the Attorney-General, EOCO and BNI will not release our client in spite of the false charges against him, he has expressed the resolve to remain in custody until the courts, the only institution he places his faith in, upholds his fundamental human rights."
The above statement of Mr. Hanan through his lawyers captured his resolve to remain in custody and procure his liberty through the court in the face of the high bail condition set for him despite his bail already granted by Court and fully satisfied.
