The Acting Chief Justice, the learned Justice Paul Baffoe Bonnie has been petitioned by The Law Platform to allow the live telecast and coverage of proceedings in the hearing of the injunction application filed by the learned Chief Justice of the Republic, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo against the Attorney-General and all the members of the Justice Pwamang Committee.

Copies to A-G and GBA

Under the hand of the Lead Editor of The Law Platform, Jonathan O. Asare Esq., the petition to the Acting Chief Justice has copies to, with same served on the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice and the Ghana Bar Association.

Per the Petition, there are precedents where coverage of proceedings in the Supreme Court and other Courts were allowed in high public interest matters and thus the case of the Chief Justice brought by herself and in her name ought to have the same treatment as the said case is a case with high public interest.

According to the Petition which has been lodged and received by the Acting Chief Justice, on the 23rd day of May, 2025, allowing media coverage shall "bolster trust of the public in the Judiciary, enhance our democracy and offer all Ghanaians the opportunity to follow this matter which carries immense significance for the Judicial wing of our government."
