The learned President of the Ghana Bar Association has disclosed the strident efforts of leadership of the Bar Association to get the State to build an ultramodern Court Complex at Cape Coast to replace the current Cape Coast Court Complex.

The announcement of the move by the Bar Association headed by its first female President, Mrs. Efua Ghartey, follows the poor and deteriorating state of the Cape Coast Court Complex and the request for a new one in its stead by a Cape Coast practitioner at the Mid-Year Bar Conference of the Ghana Bar Association held at Labadi Beach Hotel on the 26th day of April, 2025.

Mrs. Efua Ghartey shared the view that the Cape Coast Court Complex was falling into decay and needed a new one to serve the people of Cape Coast and surrounding towns. Mrs. Ghartey indicated that the subject of a new Cape Coast Court Complex was mentioned to the President of the Republic, H.E John Dramani Mahama upon the visit of the leadership of the Association to the Presidency on 26th day of March, 2025.

Mrs. Ghartey was therefore hopeful some work will be done to have a new Court Complex at Cape Coast.
