The Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice (A-G) has filed their firm opposition to the Application filed by the Board of Governors of Wesley Girls High School for the striking out of the writ in the famous pending Supreme Court case of Shafic Osman v Board of Governors of Wesley Girls High School & 2 Others Suit No. J1/6/2025.
Per the affidavit of the A-G opposing the motion filed today, the 10th day of April, 2026 at 11am, the A-G through its deponent suggests that the Board of Governors of Wesley Girls exist and may be sued whether the Board has a corporate identity or not.
The A-G informs the Court of the operational status of the School as a publicly managed school and supplies a tall list of members of the Board of Governors of the School which includes Mrs. Efua Ghartey as the school's lawyer.
The A-G suggests to the Supreme Court that the establishment of the Board of Governors of Wesley Girls is mandated by law as it deposed through an administrator of the office as follows: "That l am advised and I verily believe the same to be true that it is, by law, mandatory for a high schools which is managed as public school (including Wesley Girls' High School) to constitute a Board of Governors to ensure that such a school is managed in accordance with laid down rules and regulations of the 2nd Defendant."
The Supreme Court shall hear the motion of the Board of Governors to strike out the writ of Shafic Osman on the 21st day of April, 2026.
