Justice of the Court of Appeal, sitting as an Additional High Court Judge, H/L Justice Kofi Dorgu on the 20th day of January, 2026 has distributed marital properties between the co-founder wife, shareholder and director of Quick Credit Microfinance Company Limited now Bills, Joana Quaye, and her famous multi-millionaire husband, Richard Nii Armah Quaye.
The decision of the Court reduced into its final orders which can be read/downloaded below justified the grant of a financial relief of what may deemed as a paltry amount of GH¢300,000.00 in favour of the Petitioner. The Petitioner sought an order from the Court directed at the Respondent to pay a lump sum of 50 Million Ghana Cedis to her.
According to H/L Dorgu, the offer of just GH¢300,000.00 to the petitioner who co-founded, co-owns and serves as a director of the mainstay of the business empire of the Respondent was to dissuade "frequent divorces with the expectation of reaping huge monetary benefits".
You can remarry
In the 7-page final orders of the Court, Justice Dorgu settled 1/3 of the matrimonial property of the parties at Dansoman and two vehicles on the Petitioner. The 1/3 of the Dansoman marital property of the parties equates to 3 bedrooms in the said house. All other properties which were subject of the divorce battle were settled on the Respondent including 2/3 of their Dansoman matrimonial home which according to the order of the Court comprises of facilities such as the sitting room, kitchen, store and all the other rooms in the property.
According to Justice Dorgu, "I order that the Petitioner shall be entitled to 1/3 of the said property which I settle on her. In view of the fact that the Petitioner has three children and for the fact that Respondent has an alternative accommodation. The 1/3 allocation should be three bedrooms in the building with access to the use of the common facilities such as the sitting room, kitchen, store and all the other rooms which I describe as making up the two thirds are hereby settled on the Respondent.
In a tone defensive of the distribution done between the parties and as if assuaging the possible grievances of the Petitioner by the award, H/L Dorgu sought to console the Petitioner by indicating her chances of remarrying as he said the following: "...here is Petitioner who has been settled with 1/3 of the matrimonial home, the educational and health needs of the children placed on the Respondent and her mobility issues are also taken care of. Physically, she is very much attractive and capable of remarrying anytime she felt like."
