The Accra High Court has granted an interlocutory injunction restraining Mr. Kwapong, known as Nana Sarffro Baah III, and Maame Abena Sarfoah Awerewa, the Worawora Hemaa, from convening, organising or advertising the Worawora Akwantutenten Festival scheduled to take place from October 24 to November 1, 2026.
The order, issued by the High Court, General Jurisdiction 5, presided by H/L Justice Emmanuel Kofi Diaba, J. on October 19, 2026, follows an application filed by three plaintiffs seeking to prevent the defendants from proceeding with the festival. The plaintiffs are Abusuapanin Osei Kwame, Obaapanin Ama Poku Nyarko and Nana Ama Anowaa Nyarko Boah.
Per to processes filed in Court and court proceedings, the plaintiffs filed a motion for an interlocutory injunction on October 12, 2026, under Order 25 of C.I. 47, supported by an affidavit sworn by the third plaintiff, Nana Ama Anowaa Nyarko Boah. The Motion for injunction follows the filing of the writ of the Plaintiffs, Abusuapanin Osei Kwame, Obaapanin Ama Poku Nyarko and Nana Ama Anowaa Nyarko Boah.
The application was heard on October 19, 2026, with Selorm Dey Esq., counsel for the plaintiffs, appearing on their behalf.Following the hearing, the court granted the application and ordered the defendants, their agents and assigns to refrain from convening, organising or advertising the festival during the specified period.
The court's order is intended to prevent the festival from proceeding while the matter remains before it.
In a letter dated October 19, 2026, Dey Legal Consult, solicitors for the plaintiffs, have applied to the Registrar of the High Court, General Jurisdiction 5, for the interlocutory injunction order to facilitate its prompt service on the respondents and ensure compliance of same.
The injunction comes just days before the festival's scheduled commencement on October 24, placing its organisation under a court-imposed restriction. The order specifically prohibits the defendants from undertaking the stated activities in connection with the festival from October 24 through November 1, 2026.
An interlocutory injunction is an interim court measure intended to preserve the position of parties while a legal dispute is being determined. The order itself does not amount to a final determination of the underlying dispute.
