The Court of Appeal Constituted by Sophia Rosetta Bernasko-Essah(Presiding), Dr. Ernest Owusu-Dapaa and Ayitey Armah-Tetteh, JJA shall deliver their ruling on the motion of the Attorney-General seeking to stay the execution of the judgment of the self-same Court in the case of SEDINA TAMAKLOE ATTIONU v. THE REPUBLIC [TLP-CA-2026-38].

The Court of Appeal on the last adjourned date on the 31st day of July, 2026 after hearing the motion of the A-G for the stay of the execution of the decision of the Court in the Sedina Tamakloe case rose for nearly two hours to conference to return their decision.

Upon their return, the Court through the President informed the Court that the panel could not conclude on conferencing and thus, they could not deliver a ruling on the motion of the A-G to stay the judgment of the Court freeing the Respondent, Sedina Tamakloe Attionu. The Court however informed parties of the procurement of a warrant to deliver a ruling in the matter.

Warrant given

The Court of Appeal has procured the warrant from the Chief Justice and has served parties with hearing notices for proceedings tomorrow, the 11th day of August, 2026.

NANA ASANTE AMPONG & EX-PARTE; ABENKYIM STOOL & ORS [TLP-HC-2025-12].

It is yet to be seen if the view of the Court of Appeal on the motion of the A-G seeking to stay the judgment of the same Court which set aside the conviction and sentence of Mad. Tamakloe Attionu shall differ from the view of their Brother on the High Court Bench in the EX-PARTE; ABENKYIM STOOL & ORS case. Click here
