His Worship, Emmanuel K. Boadu in a ruling dated the 4th day of March, 2025 has ordered the cessation of operations of Esewani Radio Station, Esewani Information centre and another all in Asuom in the Eastern Region of the Republic of Ghana.

His Worship ordered for the closure of the Radio Station and two others for 10 days upon an exparte application brought by the Krontihene, Kyidomhene and Another all of Asuom against the Defendants radio and information distribution establishments. In his ruling on the application as brought by the Applicants-Chiefs, His Worship ordered for permission from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by the Respondents for the operation of their facilities at permissible noise levels directed by the EPA.

Evidence of noise pollution

The Applicants deposed to their 14 paragraphs affidavit that the operations of the Defendants causes excessive noise with same having the tendency of leading to neurosis and a nervous breakdown. Aside the nervous risks the Applicants contended that the said operations of the Defendants poses environmental hazards, deafness, sleeplessness and its induced ailments such as stress, anxiety and learning disabilities among others.
