Lawyers for Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi have filed at the registry of the High Court, a motion for bail pending the appeal of the conviction of the popularly politician, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, alias Chairman Wontumi who was convicted and sentenced to 20 years in prison on the 20th day of July, 2026 in the famous case of THE REPUBLIC v. BERNARD ANTWI BOASIAKO & ORS [TLP-HC-2026-20].

Per the motion for bail pursuant to section 96 of Act 30 and section 33 of Act 459, Lawyers for Wontumi suggest to the Court that the appeal of Wontumi has high chances of success as the High Court failed to advert its mind to exculpatory sections of the Minerals and the Mining Act and also committed grave errors in the face of a reference motion for constitutional interpretation.
