Members of the Association of Magistrates and Judges have elected the learned Justice of the High Court, Her Ladyship Olivia Obeng Owusu as the President of the Association with the respected Justice Alexander Osei Tutu elected as her Vice.
Her Ladyship, billed to be sworn in as a Court of Appeal Judge tomorrow and also known for her famous ruling in the Banker side chick case polled 173 votes as against 61 by Justice Charles Edward Ekow Baiden.
Justice Olivia Obeng Owusu is a Founding member of the Ghana Chapter of the International Association of Women Judges (IAWJ). She is a dedicated member of the Association of Magistrates and Judges as she as served the Association as a Treasurer, Greater Accra Regional Representative, Vice President and Organizing Secretary.
Justice Osei Tutu wins by landslide
The very learned Justice of the Court of Appeal, His Lordship Justice Alexander Osei Tutu made mincemeat of his opponent as he polled a staggering 201 out of 234 votes representing 86% of ballots cast for his candidature.
Other results
In the Assistant Organizing Secretary race, H/W Annette Sophia Essel won with 182 against 49 for H/W Jeroma Tawoah Owusu. For Assistant Secretary, former JUSSAG executive, H/W Derrick Annan had 152 votes against 77 for H/W Yvonne Nakie Nanor.
Her Ladyship Olivia Obeng Owusu and her victors of the election have been duly sworn in and shall now carry the mantle of leadership of the Association.
