The Small Claims and Debt Recovery Court began on a pilot basis on Monday, the 12th day of August, 2024. The Courts were established by the Judicial Service following an upsurge of cases filed being cases of small claims and debt recovery with 70% of such claims being below 5,000 Ghana cedis.
Per a letter of the Judicial Secretary to all judges and magistrates on behalf of the Chief Justice, the Courts piloting the Small Claims and Debt Recovery Court will sit from 2:00pm to 8:00pm every working day and from 8:30am to 4:00pm on Saturdays.
Below are the courts in Greater Accra and the Ashanti Region piloting the Small Claims and Debt Recovery Courts:
