The Minority on Parliament's Appointments Committee have refused to vet Prof. Richard Frimpong and Justice Bernasko-Essah who have been approved by the Judicial Council for Justices of the Apex Court.

The Minority on the Committee who were led by the Minority leader entered the room on the west wing of Parliament on the 6th Floor designated for today's vetting with unhappy faces. Dr. Ato Forson (Hon) who entered the room which was occupied by staff of Parliament and Hon. Yves Nortey on the Majority side was in the Company of Hon. Mahama Ayariga and Hon. Governs Agbodza.

Hon. Dr. Ato Forson voiced in an aggressive tone the short notice given to members of the minority of proceedings and business for the committee. His colleague Hon. Agbodza who issued threats indicated the minority was not going to partake in the business scheduled for today. Dr. Ato Forson kept shouting to silence from staff of Parliament and Hon. Yves Nortey that "what kind of governance is this". "Simple due process you cannot follow".

The Deputy Majority Chief Whip entered the room for the committee sitting to meet his colleague minority members venting. He attempted to calm them down and assuage their concerns but their minds were already made up. Dr. Ato Forson who sounded most displeased said in a stern voice expressing his dissatisfaction "we don't even have their CVs."

Dr. Ato Forson said they will not be part of business for the day but they will wait and have the media present to voice their concerns.

Footage capturing scene deleted

Dr. Ato Forson and the Deputy Majority Chief Whip who detected a video recording of the events ordered our reporter to delete the footage. The device was collected from our reporter by Hon. Habib Iddrisu and same deleted with Hon. Governs sacking our reporter from the committee room.

The Minority thus executed their intentions as declared to the Majority Whip. They disclosed to the media their refusal to vet the nominees.

Chief Justice leaves Parliament

The Chief Justice who was in the company of other Superior Court Justices such as the respected Prof. Mensah-Bonsu were in Parliament to support their soon-to-be colleagues. They thus had no choice but to leave Parliament unceremoniously.

It is unknown the next date for vetting as Parliament is set to rise and reconvene for the next term in September/October.
