The appointments Committee of Parliament will today at 10am vet Justice Bernasko Essah of the Court of Appeal Bench and the learned Professor Frimpong Oppong at 12noon. The vetting of the nominees today is pursuant to Article 144(2) of the 1992 constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

The vetting comes off after a botched one on the 30th day of July, 2024 when members of the minority side of the committee refused to vet the nominees citing short notice of the exercise. The announcement of their refusal was preceded by heated exchanges between the Minority leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the learned Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku and the Deputy Ranking Member of the Committee, Mr. Governs Agbodza and majority members of the committee.

Following an announcement by the committee of a reconvening today for the business of the committee which is the vetting of the nominees, it is expected that the learned Bernasko Essah and the respected Professor of Law, Prof. Frimpong Oppong shall have their day before the committee without any attempts by the minority to scuttle the vetting exercise.
