The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has began afresh, its prosecution against Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid and 7 others for the offence of extortion and money laundering and inchoate offences for such crimes.
The OSP today, the 24th day of March, 2026 thus re-commenced courtroom proceedings in respect of the above offences against the former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), other officers of the State Corporation, some companies and their directors in the downstream petroleum industry.
The OSP prior to today had reached the point of Case Management Conference in its case against Dr. Abdul-Hamid and others but by virtue of the withdrawal of the charge sheet first filed on the 16th of July, 2025 and amended as far back as the 17th of October, 2025, the OSP is beginning anew its case against the former State Chief Executive and other officers of the NPA.
Albert Ankrah & Isaac Mensah off the hook
Per the new charge sheet cited by The Law Platform, the OSP shall prosecute Dr. Abdul-Hamid together with 7 others dropping charges and its case against the 4th and 5th accused persons per its charge sheet filed and amended on 17th of October, 2025.
It remains unknown the basis for the withdrawal and refiling of charges against the accused persons and not a filing of withdrawal of charges against Mr Ankrah and Mensah. Mr. Ankrah and Mensah are Directors of Propnest Ltd. and Kings Energy Ltd. respectively.
Plea retaken; bail regranted
The Presiding Judge, H/L Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay reheard Counsel for the accused persons for bail for their Clients and re-granted them bail on terms as they were granted upon the taking of their plea on the 9th day of December, 2025.
The Court thus adjourned to the 15th of April, 2026 for Case Management Conference after disclosures have been refiled yet again by the OSP.
