Lawyers for Mr. Solomon Asamoah in the case of Republic vrs. Solomon Asamoah & Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Ekumfi (Case No. CR/0448/2026) have also petitioned the Chief Justice for a withdrawal of the directive for proceedings during the legal vacation.

Sam Okudzeto & Associates, Lawyers for Mr. Solomon Asamoah petitioned the Chief Justice to withdraw the directive for proceedings in the case to continue outside of the normal legal year. They inform the Chief Justice of their inability to attend court sittings owing to commitments made for the vacation and the need for rest for lawyers.

In the words of Mrs. Victoria Barth, Managing Partner of the firm whose petition follows four other law firms reads as follows, "Regrettably, we are unable to attend sittings scheduled during the legal vacation."

Per the petition of the firm dated the 10th day of August, 2026, "The legal vacation has traditionally been set aside to afford judges and legal practitioners a period of rest and recuperation after the grueling demands of the legal year. We have worked tirelessly throughout the legal year looking forward to much needed respite during the legal vacation. Based on the established judicial calendar, we have made personal and family commitments, travel plans and scheduled medical reviews for the vacation period. The continuation of proceedings during this recess will therefore disrupt these arrangements and deprive us of much needed rest and time with family, which has become a long- standing judicial practice and legitimate expectation."

Away from rest, the Firm also indicates per their petition that "It is imperative to add that the legal vacation will afford our client the unique opportunity of having the record for his pending appeal expeditiously compiled, as the case docket will be available fi the court is not sitting or working on any pending process. Our client filed an interlocutory appeal against the Court's dismissal of his submission of no case and is anxious to prosecute his appeal to avoid the oppressive prospect of simultaneously prosecuting his appeal in the Court of Appeal and opening his defence ni the High Court."

The Ghana Bar Association through its President, Mrs. Efua Ghartey has backed
