Codifying Matrimonial Property Rights In Ghana: an Analysis of the Spousal Property Rights Bill
The constitutional call for legislation on spousal property rights did not emerge in isolation. Prior to the 1992 Constitution, disputes over property within marriage were largely resolved under customary law principles and general notions of contribution, often to the disadvantage of spouses whose contributions were nonfinancial.
