Barring any last minute decisions to the contrary, the Acting Chief Justice of the Republic, His Lordship Justice Paul Baffoe Bonnie shall be appointed by the President of the Republic, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana.
Justice Paul Baffoe Bonnie shall slide into the now vacant position after the suspension and eventual removal of the Chief Justice by the President acting upon the recommendation of the Justice Pwamang Committee of Inquiry.
Justice Baffoe Bonnie whose appointment to the Supreme Court Bench was in 2004 is the Senior most Justice of the Supreme Court Bench. His lordship presided over the panel of the Apex Court in the series of injunction applications brought against the Justice Pwamang Committee.
Changes in Acting Capacity
Justice Baffoe Bonnie in an acting capacity has supervised numerous changes in the Judiciary including changes to the Court officers at the Registry of the Supreme Court. Under his short tenure in acting capacity, the leadership of the Ghana School of Law has seen changes with the official cashier banks at the Registry of Court seeing some changes.
Barring any decisions to the contrary, the Chief Justice shall be allowed to continue his administrative work as Chief Justice and continue some changes tabled to be roled out upon his appointment, vetting and swearing in as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana.
