The Ghana Bar Association through its record breaking President, Mrs. Efua Ghartey has condemned in no uncertain terms the harrassment, assault and threats issued by a crowd to the lawyer of the accused person in a murder case involving an immigration officer.

The Bar voiced its condemnation at the 2025 edition of the annual convention of Ghanaian Lawyers ongoing in the Upper West Regional capital, Wa.

Pro Bono work to be affected

With a face of disapproval, the President of the Bar said the conduct displayed by members of the family of the deceased against Counsel for the accused can have dire consequences for the delivery of pro bono services in Ghana.

Mrs. Ghartey added that Lawyers occupy an important role and position in Ghana and thus, they serve as a "voice for the voiceless".
