Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo has directed the piloting of a "Court Shift System" in selected courts in Greater Accra and Eastern Regions effective Monday,the 25th day of March, 2024.
In a letter dated the 14th day of March, 2024, the Judicial Secretary, Her ladyship Justice Cynthia Pamela stated that speedy hearing of cases, maximization of court resources and reduction of court case load as the grounds for this novel measure to tackle case overload and slow pace of court cases. The decision of a shift system by the Chief Justice which is consistent with her efforts at reducing delay of cases in court and improve efficiency of our courts follows a nationwide count of dockets in courts in the country and the veritable problem of case overload for some courts per the count.

Per the letter, this measure will be on a pilot basis in the following 8 courts which have a relatively huge case load:
1. High Court '1', Adentan 2. High Court '2', Adentan 3. High Court 1, Amasaman 4. Circuit Court, Weija 5. District Court, La 6. District Court, Teshie 7. District Courts A&B, Madina 8. High Court, Nsawam

Per the letter a copy which is attached below, the above listed courts will sit according to a morning and afternoon time shift of 8:30am - 1:30am for morning and 2pm- 6pm for afternoon.
